Session 49, VP2

A small amount of disquiet lingered as the group continued their travels the next day. Some of what their benefactor had said was easy to parse- though this did little to make the words more welcome. Thankfully, life on the road has a way of sweeping travelers off their feet in the most unexpected of ways. The path to Streamsford was easy enough to follow. When they were slightly more than halfway to their goal, the trainers found their way forward barred. Two massive bear Pokemon stood back to back in the center of the trail. The Pangoro & Ursaring let out low growls as they turned to face our heroes. Now the pair stood shoulder-to-shoulder, glaring down at the party. Though clearly ready for combat, the bears didn't seem aggressive. They gave off more of a...protective vibe. Sylvie's powers had recently grown to include communing with Pokemon; the Empath reached out to get a read on the wilds. An image of the two dressed in black suits, wearing sunshades & ear-pieces ...

Session 43, VP1

The morning brought a gentle rain to the farmlands. Saffa appeared eager to put this whole event behind her, so she was packed before our heroes had finished breakfast. Gunnar & Bergie thanked Vern for all of his help. With a cheerful smile, he expressed that he wished he had been able to do more to repay them for their help in Seeder Grove. He watched them set out into the Varfjell Fields as he waved goodbye to the trainers. It didn't take long for the group's spirits to rise. When was the last time that their dance card wasn't full? It felt like months...As they rode through the tall grass, the trainers discussed where their path could lead them. Harbinger Valley had been a planned goal a while ago; with nothing weighing them down, they decided to finally check that town off their travel list. Apart from spotting some Pokemon in the distance here & there, the day passed in relative calm. So when they bedded down for the night, it came as a shock when an immense ru...

Arc 3, Session 18, L5R

December, 1118, Week 3, Continued It was the last week of January. Winter Court was at its end. Our heroes had returned triumphantly from their trek into the Shadowlands a few weeks ago. The breakfast hall had been decorated to honor the hero of the hour: their clan colors adorning the walls, & their favorite traditional meals prepared for all to partake in. As they walked into the room, everyone bowed to greet them… Megumi felt off as she sat with her allies. Recollections of the journey back to Carpenter Castle, let alone their exploration of the lost Hiruma lands, were impossible to conjure. The last thing she could remember clearly was leaving the tunnel. As the samurai spoke amongst themselves, they agreed that this wasn’t right. Whatever the source was, they appeared to be experiencing some sort of collective illusion. As they began to push back against their trappings, the dream itself burnt away into nothing. Causing them to “re-awaken” at the beginning of the same “day”. I...

Arc 3, Session 17, L5R

December 1118, Week 1: Bleeding Hearts There was a brief pause as Hiruma Kazu’s words sunk in. A murder…? The courtier rushed towards where Kaiu Asano sat, throwing himself to his knees. Between his gasps for air he explained what he knew of the situation. Upon waking, Hiruma Kazu had made his way to his retainer’s quarters. The tatami door was left sloppily open from a hurried exit. Staining the floor in front of the doorway was a darkening pool of blood; crimson footprints had marked a flight taken in a panic. The courtier, rightly, called for guards. When they arrived, the group of Crab entered the guest room. As expected- sadly- Hiruma Yori lay dead on his sleeping mat. His body was in a state of undress, & a large hole yawned across his chest. His heart was nowhere to be seen. For a murder to happen during a Winter Court was practically unheard of. Given the potential consequences, the guards sent a runner to Kaiu Asano. At her command, Kaiu Gudeta left his post as her retaine...
