Session 42, VP2
Despite the god-like echo attacking them, our heroes stood their ground unflinchingly. They released their Pokemon & readied themselves for battle. At first, their opponent stayed in its strange conglomerate form. Easy to hit, surely, but oppressively powerful.
When the creature split back apart into the individual bat
Pokemon, it was hard to tell if this was a boon or not. The sight of the
Gliscor further stoked the fires of Lauren’s rage; the Researcher took up the
Gible Dagger & dove into the melee. Warring emotions were writ plain on
their face.
Each time one of the smaller Pokemon was felled, the Lunala
form became noticeably smaller & weaker. The trainers soon realized that
striking at the beast with moves they had already used provided an enhanced
effect. Even with this added power, the group was fighting uphill.
Reinhold worked with his Pokemon to bring down the bats as
quickly as possible. Unused to physical combat, Lauren eventually went down.
Sylvie rushed over to their side with a cry of worry. Glowing, pink energy
surrounded her hands as she used her burgeoning powers to heal their friend.
A few moments later, the Lunala began to glow incredibly
bright. With a silent explosion, it channeled the energy into a massive
Moongeist Beam. Bronze was left unconscious in the resulting crater as friends
fought on. Ever ready, Sylvie was able to revive Bronze as well. When the
healer herself was knocked out a few seconds later, Bronze eagerly returned the
favor.
One after another, the bats were struck down. The echo still
lingered even with its worshippers defeated. Thankfully, its attacks &
defenses were significantly weaker after the battle thus far. At the verge of
defeat, it began to charge itself up with light once more. Shadow realized what
was happening & leapt towards the bat with all his strength. He spun in the
air, using his head-blade like a drill through the bat’s chest.
The echo was shattered- & fading. Guided by instinct,
Reinhold took the strange bell from his pack. The traces of Lunala were drawn
within the confines of the metal as the Martial Artist shook it rhythmically.
They had done it! With the threat eliminated, the trainers entered the strange
lake to return home.
It seemed as if no time at all had passed as they emerged
beneath the normal night sky. The defeated bats had all fled…though a familiar
pair of yellow eyes leered at the group from high in a tree. Lauren moved to
rush the Gliscor, but tripped from exhaustion. The Pokemon was gone by the time
they were back on their feet.
Their victory was hard-won, & most of the group was
exhausted. A feeling of comforting stillness hung over their campsite by the
lake. Somehow, they could tell they would be safe beneath this autumn moon.
Each of the trainers retired to their sleeping bags in relative silence. For
now, they would rest. And tomorrow, they would set their sights back on
Forgerun.
